I'm misintrepreted, the words from my parched lips stumble into the distant air. People may listen with their ears, but are to slow to comprehend. My jokes are merely amusing to them because they are full of stupidy and ignorance.

Eventually it grows on me their constant ghetto slang and i forget my own words, my own thoughts. Less my own feelings or to far out to comprehend. I thus become a mute unable to comprehend, because my vocabulary has worn thin.

I am tired of the common slangs that comes out of their ill sloppy tongues that lack the proper american english. The voices sound like harsh cow moos in an open field, which is funny at first, but later goes old and stinky as if the cheese from the cupboard has been left out to long.

My skin might be the color black, but my brain does not have to consist of illiteracy to remember from where i came. Our people use to fight for the proper education. Now its here and I'm one of the people who volunteered for what others have fought for in vain.

So you can misintrepret me and cast me into the sterotypical world of how i'm supposed to act. Education is not just for the whites, its for the black. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can get back on track.

I'm not either i just want to make it a point that i shouldn't have to dull myself down just because i'm black. People are always saying that i act white because I'm smart and make good grades, or because i talk proper. Well, why can't the reason be because i have an improved vocabulary and i try hard. Just because i'm black doesn't mean i have to act ignorant and stupid, but so many people see it that way and they are never willing to look outside of the box. They think stupidity is the true way to identifying a black person. If you see a person acting all wild than you know that they have black in them, and thats not neccessarily true. When are people going to wake up and know that we can go out in the world and be just as successful and still know who we are. It's not because were trying to be white. It's because we want to gain success and opportunity that we were so long deprived of . Our success doesn't always have to be credited towards the whites and we shouldn't think of it that way either. Neither should we think of it as getting what the whites have tooken from us. To think of it that way is to say that i never really healed from past wounds of slaverly. Yet think of it as a chance that god gave us to show that we can truly be a great gender. The bases of our culture does not have to consist of Illiteracy, but just as well of intelligents and Brilliant minds. Such as Langston Hughes and Jesse White.
