2 great reads by 2 great authors.
I've recently discovered the brilliance of Rohinton Mistry, the author of several novels, such as the acclaimed, 'A Fine Balance' and 'Such a Long Journey." His novels are basically historical fiction, while almost always concentrating on India in the 60's or 70's. They're great novels, especially 'A Fine Balance' from which I've only heard great reviews. It's amazingly written and the plot is always realistic and detailed. The characters and the events that happen area almost always completely haunting and impressive. Overall, I'm still excited to get through his entire collection.
Also, I should probably mention my all-time favorite book, 'Midnight Hour Encores' by Bruce Brooks. It was written in the 80's - and is sort of self described as an analytical comtemporary historic novel. Writting from the first person, the main character is self named (and seemingly self created) Sibilance T. Spooner. Great novel, if you like the characters sarcastic, cunning, honest and real. The character developement is amazing. The plot is also pretty interesting.
Thanks for reading. Email me if you have any questions, or if you just want to talk.
