Hes one of my fave authors. I just finished reading Tenderness a few months back and it was great.

He is one of my favorite authors! I've read most of his books.
We All Fall Down, The Chocolate War and Beyond the Chocolate War, Tenderness (but I don't think this one is as good as his other books), uh... After the First Death (good book!), The Rag and Bone Shop (totally good and creepy) His books are pretty dark but if you like this author I also reccomend Chris Crutcher. His book deal with serious issues but it has a lot more humor in it and deals with slightly... I don't want to say lighter, but there is more resolution, I guess. And I just found out a minute ago that he is no longer alive...

It is about a guy named Jerry who refuses to sell chocolate for a school fundraiser. Some people like how he is standing up for what he believes in, others hate him.

I don't get it is he trying to prove a point or something, if so what is it? I mean why would he have to sell chocolate, don't you usually have a choice for that kind of thing?

techincally its a choice, but he goes to a strict school. they pretty much have to. and for a type thing freshman initiation he has to refuse to sell chocolates but he can't tell anyone why he isn't selling them. he gets a lot of crap for it.
great book.
