Default Why do you enjoy writing?

The question seems almost too simple. Why do you enjoy writing? Whether it be a short story, your next novel, or simply blogging, what is it about writing that you like?

I like writing because my brain comes up with really stupid things sometimes and I like to share them with others.

I love writing because I allows me to create worlds and people I'd like to read about myself! It also gives me a massive sense of achievement. What could be better than seeing a novel grow before your eyes and know that YOU wrote it?

Default This thing called writing

We all love writing...but my reasons are different from yours and vice versa...i enjoy writing because it takes me to a place unknown to both you and I...I want to get away from actual reality and to somewhere i have never been before or maybe revisit my favorite place. Writing helps me see things in a new light...usually that makes me feel bad if i'm writing about someone in particular....I love the feeling of the thoughts flow out of my head through my arm and out of my pen onto paper in form of ink. I just love the feeling that I belong to world of the unknown....

Ah! The flowing thing. I know what you mean. Fountains pens are so good for that. I do get some funny looks when I'm writing on the tram though...

I think when I'm writing I'm usually writing about myself. I mean the characters in my stories and poems usually represent some part of me that I don't usually show, even if the character seems like my total opposite. Does that make any sense?

Makes sense to me! I try NOT to do that, but it is difficult not to put a little of myself in my heroines.

I think the reason i don't try to exclude myself from the characters in my writing is because thats why i write. I write because i only get to live my life once and in only one way so i think when i write i'm kind of exploring the different sides of me that i most likely won't discover in reality. I just do it through different characters and i think i couldn't really write a character and not in some sense be writing about myself.

Cool why?

i like writing because i have to express the thoughts coming out of my head somehow, and people think its wierd if youre in 8th grade and your talking to yourself, even though sometimes i still do. when you write you also become like a god, i know this sounds dumb, but believe me im a nerd and proud of it, you control emotions, people, weather, everything, and most important you can escape your own feelings or emotions, like when i broke up with my boyfriend, i wrote nonstop, focusing all my emotions in a senseless story, and no it did not involve him getting hurt, or him at all.
