Dark Moonlight
This is poem I wrote one night after reading some of Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy. I entered it into a contest called, "The Spirit of Mabon", bacause the subject is celtic.
DARK MOONLIGHT
Moonlight cascades through the tall trees,On a beautiful summer night. All are at rest, even the bees, It is quiet here; what a sight. In the dark a nightingale sings, Off in the distance a wolf howls, Humans tremble but our hearts sing. It echoes through the stones: so loud. The world is quiet here, again. My troubled soul seeks only peace. But the dark has only troubles to lend, While the moonlight tells it to cease. Silver Minigan sits quiet by me. Protection is his goal. When morn’ comes the birds will riot. Quietness. Yet, not in my soul. The Darkness envelopes my soul. Silver moonlight blankets the black stone; which covers my lovers heart. Without him, my life is lacking. Ambrosius lies in the ground. The Last Roman in Britain. Here is his grave. There is not a sound. Without him, my life I must bear. Alone. Note: This is written from the point of view of one of the fae. Note2: Minigan is celtic for 'wolf'.
