http://www.time-to-read.com/ This site is new! Volunteer literacy program. Works with adults and teens who read at or above the fourth-grade level and with children in grades 2-6.
http://www.classroom.com It has a wealth of information.  In the "teacher's lounge,"  there is a TON of information on planning tools, teaching guides, assessment tools and ideas, ways to get connected to e-pals (even from other countries), learning goals, opportunities to ask other educators' questions about your classroom and help answer other posted questions.

www.kab.org This is the website for a recycling program. It is called Keep America Beautiful. There are many links for teachers and for students.
www.educ.ucalgary.ca/litindex/ This is a great site because you can type in almost any children's book and a screen will come up with a ton of ideas that go along with the book requested.

www.scholastic.com  It is a great site to use with your classroom for current information. My classroom has used it to look at different things such as the olympics and the election.
This web site has information for teachers, kids, and parents on the most recent literature. For teachers it gives you millions of lesson plans in the area of literacy. It allows students to look for books, games, and other things. It also gives parents ideas for activities to do with their children. It is basically a great site for everyone and it has a lot of get resources.

hundreds of teacher lesson plans on everything you can imagine Student activity centers current event info, for example stuff on the Olympics, lessons, activities TONS of GREAT STUFF!
I love this site for teachers, parents, and kids.  It has lesson plans in themes, teacher reasourses, kids games, and parent information.
THis is a great website with a ton of resources. It has lesson plans, research tools, books and authors. It has sections for teachers only and for parents.

www.discovery.com  I thoroughly enjoy the site Discovery.com because it is an amazing resource for both teaching and learning about concepts and ideas I am very interested in, such as: History, Human Behavior, Space, Technology, and the WILD!
It is the official website from the Discovery Channel on tv.  I have often used it to look up science topics (general anc current events).  There is a kids page where children can access games, facts and information which is easy to understand.  Discovery.com also contains links to the Animal Planet site, DiscoveryTravel, DiscoveryHealth, and the TLC website.  This site is very useful and I would recommend it to anyone!

I found a fun and educational web site.  It's by Houghton Mifflin.  It's for grades K-8 and has activities, research materials and some info on textbooks for reading, science, math and social studies.  It also has links to other sites for these subjects.  I just played the Brain Teasers game!  Great for the kids!

http://www.50states.com  It's called the 50 States page. This could be a great tool to teach kids about the fifty states. For each state they list general information such as state bird, economy,etc. Each tidbit of information is linked to another that has more specific information about that specific topic.
www.pbs.org/kids  Last year I attended a workshop hosted by PBS on teaching in a multicultural class adn it was wonderful. I love pbs, becasue I am early chidlhood adn i think thier programs are great for young students. They have a web site  that I would suggest for early childhood educators.
http://www.kidnews.com/kidtalk.html  This is a very simple page that is a great place for children of all ages to post their thought, published works, etc. There are postings from children all over the world on topics ranging from Britney Spears and Pokemon to divorce and school problems. The students can also make a request for a pen pal from another school, IF a permission form is completed by teacher/parent. This is a great site because it allows children to express themselves in a community for and by children.

For each one there is multiple areas for which to surf through. For teachers there is a link for every subject, current events, references, lesson plans!!, and more. It's almost as if there is too much information available here. For kids there are links to games,help with various school subjects, links to authors or titles of books, projects, news, etc.

www.atozteacherstuff.com  This site has everything a teacher could want. At this site you will find lesson plans, teacher tips, articles related to education, a message board for educators to communicate on, and many other wonderful teacher resources!

www.FunBrain.com  This webpage includes several categories including games for working on numbers, words, the universe, culture, extras, and all subjects. Each category has from 3-21 different games and activities that children grades K-8 can participate in alone, with friends, or with a parent.  This web page also has a Quiz Lab where teachers and students can log on and take quizzes which will be scored and emailed back to the classroom. The teachers can also tour the quiz lab where they can find thousands of quizzes that have been designed by teachers world-wide. They can also find curriculm guides and other helpful resources.  There is also a section for parents which include quizzes and games which can be played with their children, along with other parent resources.
www.guilford.com\excerpts\osbornEX.htm  This web site includes a chapter from a book about Literacy and Instruction.  This chapter has information on several aspects of literacy instruction based on teaching special education students Literacy according to the theories of Janett Gaffney. Many of her suggestions can be related to students who are not necessarily "impaired".

Its a great site for finding quality books. The site is part of the American Library Association and it also lets you find all the Caldecott and Coretta Scott King book winners.
http://apps.scholastic.com/search/  I have used this site in the past and had good luck finding literature or children's books to go with my lessons. This website allows you to search for books by topic, author, title, or keyword. You can also search for lesson plan ideas too.

Viewers read the story page-page (illustrations included), and then can choose to play games related to the story afterwards (i.e. Watson’s Word Wall, et. al.). The site also includes a parent page (FAQ’s, tips, resources), a book index of previously featured stories, printable pages (includes games, coloring pages, and word flashcards), and curriculum highlights
http://www.scholasticnews.com  This web site gives lesson plans and intersting insight into the literature and thematic unit ideas, other curriculm activies. It also involves a search for teachers to find activites in a certain area which would be of great help for myself using genre studies.
www.askjeeves.com  It is a site where you can ask questions and there is a specific part for kids. It will look up information and answers to questions.
www.weeklyreader.com  I enjoyed this website because it has newspaper articles for the students to enjoy and it also has different sections for parents, teachers and students.  I found it to be very informational and helpful with the everyday happenings of the world.
http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/education/index.cfm  This is the National Geographic link for educators. You can obtain free lesson plans and download printable maps for teaching activities. There are also fantastic on-line lessons that can be used in the classroom.

CELL training emphasizes that the instructional focus in the primary grades is to teach reading and writing. ExLL focuses on reading and writing in the context areas while recognizing that some children in the immediate grades are still srugling readers. Encourages active participation from each child despite current level of literacy.

http://www.ncte.org  The National Council of Teachers of English has a great site!  It includes curriculum information, quotes, and assessment ideas, as well as writing ideas.
http://ericir.syr.edu/  Ask Eric lets you search for lesson plan ideas on a variety of subjects. It also has a virtual library.
http://www.pbs.org/teachersource/  This website contains information about current events (eg. the presidential elections, Olympics) and how you can relate them to children. This website also had links to other pages (eg. literature, math, science...) which were very interesting. Also I think that PBS has many good childrens programs which are educational and could be incorporated into classrooms.

http://www.pbskids.org  This website has all sorts of literary activities for kids and information for adults about programs on PBS. The kids can go to their favorite PBS tv character and read with them or color a picture with them. They can make choices if they want to read by themselves or with the computer. There are all different kinds of choices for the kids and all different activities, Clifford, Arthur, Zoomatafoo, and the list keeps going.
www.eduplace.com  This is a website produced by Houghton-Mifflin that not only provides supplementary support for the use of their products, but also provides many ideas for lesson plans and activities in the class room.
http://www.enviroliteracy.com  I like this website because it gives a lot of good resources about the environment and how to integrate these topics in the classroom. I also liked how it gives full drawn out lesson plans to help teachers see how to use these topics. You can see how to extend these activities throughout all parts of your day:literacy, science, and even math.
http://www.nwrel.org/sky/Library/Materials_Search/Lesson_Plans/Language_Arts.html  his page provides links to many different language arts lesson plans for teachers. All grade levels are highlighted here and information pages (phonics vs. whole language, for example) are also included. 
http://www.kidbibs.com  This cite is a great reference for parents and teachers to find books for kids at certain grade levels. It is also great for kids to come and read other kids' works, read wacky web stories, play literacy games, and find books for their age or instuctional level.
Http://www.worldkids.net/pooh/100aker.html  A whole site dedicated to Winnie the Pooh and the 100 acre wood lot. There are numerous thinks that connect to the map of the wood lot. Each link gives information about a character and their home and often gives clips taken directly from the book about the character.  This would be a fun site to allow your students to investigate after reading the story because they get to pick who/what they learn about.
www.freep.com  there is a section callled Yaks Corner. It is news for kids. They cover great stuff. I like to use it for current events. Plus it give students a different kind of reading that is often left out of the curriculum.
