I'm surprised to see that no one is talking about Hurricane Katrina on the discussion forum.

During an poll among teachers at several schools, I was one of the few that actually discussed Hurricane Katrina in the classroom. How many of you have talked about it in class or school?

We mentioned it offhandedly in American History once I think but other than that, no we haven't formally discussed it. I don't think anyone felt the need to, to tell you the truth.

We haven't had any formal discussions, just one moron in my Sociolgy/Psychology class say (about a week after mind you), after my teacher mentioned New Orleans, Why, what happened in New Orleans? And his litte friend said, I want to go scuba diving there and find some TVs or something!!!!!!!!

And i won't say how i feel about the whole thing, its too political for me to start about it here........... i'll spare you a speech.

In AP Euro we went to the NY website everyday and saw pictures and talked about the short/long term effects. Then I was talking to friends about oil prices and the rigs in the Gulf.

Imrahil1234...your classmates are sick.

Tell me about it JEM, and these are supposed to be 17 -18 year olds about to go into "the world" in a matter of months!

On the bright side only a matter of months until i dont have to listen to them anymore!

In my Biology class, we talked about it alot. The reason why was because we were talking about biomes and such and my teacher was saying how the biomes of New Orleans were damaged. In some of my other classes we have also talked about it for different reasons.
